Adsense tips
The primary source of ad revenues (of most of the websites) is Google adsense. Google Adsense is not only user-friendly, but also easy to install. And to add more, Google adsense is being vouched by millions of publishers for its genuine ad revenue sharing practice. In a world where every other publisher is misled by so-called online earning schemes, Google adsense stands tall for it’s sincerity!
Placing Google adsense on your website is just the beginning to make a decent earning through online ads. As I said in my earlier posts, content is the King. Ad revenues, over a long run, entirely depends on your content and your loyal visitors (again only quality content can attract and keep them)
Most of the bloggers/publishers need to spend some time on researching about blogging skills and technicals, atleast during the initial period. And the other most important thing is, to do some experiments with ad placements. Though each of your visitor follows certain common surfing habits, it may vary from your website subject also. For eg: If your website contains mostly visuals, your reader may first get attracted to the most striking visual on your home page. He may not follow the statutory left to right viewing habit.
But keeping in mind, the usual reading habits of readers, we can arrive at certain conclusions and thereby chalk out a few rules. Let me share some of the tips/tricks of blogging and Adsense placements. Some of these tips/tricks are mastered by pro-bloggers and therefore can be called successful tricks!
Click on ads and get paid
Posting daily
The first rule in successful blogging is regular posting of quality content. If you have subscribed to technorati, you can analyze, how your traffic/ranking gets affected when you fail to post regularly. There are softwares which can post for you(ofcourse you have to keep the posts ready in advance) when you’re not around. You just need to fix the date of posting, that’s it!
Tags
When you submit your blog to search engines you leave certain tags with them. Search engines crawl your site and look for those tags. So, make your content visible to search engine crawlers. How do you do it? Simple, use your tag words regularly and often in your content. But don’t overdo it! Use your tags 2-3 times in a 100 word para.
Links
While using tags in your content try to link each tag word to related link.(May be ad links also) If you use Google adsense in one of your para, try to link it to google adsense site. This will increase your ad revenue. But PLEASE, PLEASE don’t mislead readers. When you have a certain number of loyal readers, it becomes like a family. Will you cheat your family member by misleading, just for few more cents?
Adsense placement
Adsense has to look like a part of your website. If it stands out, readers will just skip it. Don’t keep the ads in separate colours. Keep the background of the ads, same colour as your content background. Do away with borders. We’re in boundary-less world!
Don’t irritate readers
Too cluttered ads will surely irritate your readers and eventually drive away your loyal readers. Imagine your house being covered with too many ad hoardings! So, keep them neat. An ad at the top could be a good idea. At different places you can place different styles/shapes of ads. Try Google link ads too, which is neat and not irritating also.
Experiment with Adsize
Most of the successful bloggers will tell you that vertical ads may not work well in many cases. Horizontal ads are more effective choice. They call it leaderboards. True leader in earning for you! And place ads just after when you say something interesting. Not after a posting which will put readers into sleep!
Links to additional info
The bottomline is simple. Readers don’t want to click on ads just to make you rich. They click on ads when they need some additional info. Google adsense being contextual in nature, you can use that for your advantage. When you make your ads look like additional links to your posting, readers will naturally click on it. And they won’t repent as they’ll be led to related info only. And I don't see any reason why you repent! And I can already see a grin on your face!
